STORIES OF MAKING LIFE BETTER FOR KIDS WITH CANCER
Lifting another family's spirits
As we pause this week to think about our blessings, we are thankful for the incredible network of supporters like you.
This fall has been a tough one for ASK. We've had a wave of new diagnoses and our numbers are up, way up. The ASK Clinic usually averages 1-2 diagnoses a week but this fall we've seen 2-3 children diagnosed every week. The clinic is busier and our staff is feeling the effect. The waiting room is more crowded. There are more children to be treated, more parents to be consoled. Our Family Crisis Fund is tracking ahead of spending, with more families reaching out to us to ask for assistance with their bills.
Thanks to your generosity this year, we have a network of support ready and waiting to help these newly diagnosed children and all of our ASK families.
We have caring professionals based in the clinic who are ready to help from the moment our families hear those words "Your child has cancer." We have educational programs in place to make sure these young patients don't fall behind in school while they're in treatment. We have a Family Crisis Fund to help families stay financially afloat. With the cold weather setting in, we don't want a family to ever have to choose between a medical bill and keeping their heat on in their home.
So, while we can't yet stop cancer we can make sure that our kids have the best care possible and, with your help, we are doing that.
Many thanks and warmest wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving!
